golden memories

The most demanding and most expensive project of the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo was the bobsleigh track at Trebevic Mountain, which was used for competition in bobsled and sledding. Sarajevo bobsled track was one of the steepest and fastest in the world, but also one of the safest. The start of the track was on 1108 meters altitude, the finish line was on 982, long 1570 meters. The symbol of the XIV Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo now looks devastated and abandoned place "decorated" with graffiti. During the siege of Sarajevo 1992-1995. bobsled track was badly damaged. Neither one of the accompanying buildings was not preserved, the concrete trough in several places was turned into an army loophole. 30th years after the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, the bobsleigh track is a place that brings back memories of the Olympic spirit of Sarajevo. Wartime destruction and negligence have turned most of Sarajevo's 1984 Winter Olympic venues into painful reminders of the city's golden times. They were never rebuilt and it's large concrete structure remains standing as a memento of the past.
